The purpose of this blog is about giving back to the community. I’ve called it giving back in the Catskills because the Catskill Mountains is where I live. I am a Life Scout and an avid hiker.
Initially I thought I would use this forum to document the restoration of Layman’s Monument, my Eagle project. For those of you that do not know, an Eagle scout is the highest rank in a Boy Scout’s life. After completing many tasks, (merit badges) to build their knowledge, they are required to choose and complete a project that would highlight what they have learned.The restoration of Layman’s Monument should be completed by the end of Spring, beginning of Summer 2009.
My long-term goal for this site is to have a location where people can be informed about community projects in the Catskills. Whether they are interested in volunteer work to benefit the community or just trying to stay informed of the local projects, my hope is that they’ll stop here first. If you would like to have your project posted just let me know by leaving your comments below.
